Lakeside Jazz Festival
History of the Lakeside Jazz Festival

The Lakeside Jazz Festival of Port Orange is approaching its annual performance and is close to becoming the premier Jazz festival in the southeastern United States.

Every year organizers of this event have created a bridge across community, government, education and the arts. This bridge has created a showcase that is as beneficial to the participants as it is enjoyable to the many spectators. Students, professionals, and teachers all converge at this festival to promote music and kindle the passion so many of these musicians have for Jazz.

Nestled in the serene outdoor setting of the Port Orange city center, the Lakeside Jazz Festival has entertained performances from such bands as: The United States Army Band, Jacksonville; The Florida Southern College Jazz Band, Rollins College Jazz Band, The Sal Ronci Big Band, The Swamp Dogs Dixieland Band, and many others that have contributed to the continued success of this festival.

"I cannot recollect any festival that was better organized and as well
run as the Lakeside.   As I have been doing these for over 40
years, I can assure you very few run like clockwork as does Lakeside."
Ron Modell
University of Northen Illinois

The Lakeside Jazz Festival continues to be the highlight of an entire year of practice for the high school and college bands that come to share their musical talents with the community. This year the festival will strive to put on the best show since it began just five years ago. The "Festival Honors Band" will feature some of the days best high school performers and will serve to lead the evening performances of college and professional bands.

For those who have not yet enjoyed this lovely event be sure to make plans to be entertained with music cast over the gentle sound of the lakes fountains, and experience a musical melody you will come to cherish. Become a supporter of the Annual Lakeside Jazz Festival, and don't forget to tell your friends and family!
